Ems's collection is elegant and profound, especially in Gerhard Richter's and William de Cunning's outstanding works, spanning all stages of their artistic career. Richter's abstract style is unparalleled in the world. He has a unique eye for color arrangement, combination and balance. His works A B, Still (top left; valuation: 20 million to 30 million US dollars*) in 1986 and A B, St. James (valuation: 20 million to 30 million US dollars) in 1988 are perfectly presented. Dekunin's oil painting "Untitled" from 1976 to 1977 demonstrates extraordinary merit and far-reaching influence on abstract expressionism (top right; valuation: 8 million to 12 million US dollars). In addition to Richter and De Cunning's 12 paintings,'Excellence: Steve and Ann Ames Collection'also includes works by Philip Guston, Robert Ryman, Sigmar Polke and Anselm Kiefer. The remaining 55 collections will be put on display on November 18 at the "Contemporary Art Day Auction".
Immediately after "Excellence: Steve and Ann Ames Collection", a rare masterpiece by Shan Mitchell Baskia, a brilliant young man in the art world, appeared. Brother's Sausage (Valuation: $15 million to $20 million) is a six-eaves cross-cut painting, which was painted in 1983, at the peak of the artist's career (see home page). Themes cover social injustice, prejudice, desire for fame and wealth, and corporate greed. The works also present artists'unique painting details, including poetic words and multiple levels. Published on the cover of the Baskia catalogue, this work was collected by Enrico Navarra, publisher and supporter of Baskia, and placed in his home in Paris.
Woods Forest, October 24, 25, 26, 2006, by David Hockney, a leading British postwar artist, is a huge, 72 by 144 inches in size. This work is a merger of six canvas, showing the beautiful scenery of Yorkshire lakes and mountains. This giant painting was displayed at the Royal Academy of Art's 2012 exhibition David Hockney: Macro Vision, valued at $9 million to $12 million. Sotheby's presentation of "Water Flower" ten years ago restored Hockney's position in the art market. Ten years later, this work is expected to be the next city to create a new artist auction record.
